SAFETY CONSULTATION & MANAGEMENT PLAN

we create a healthy environment

Opening Conference

When the consultant arrives at your work-site for the scheduled visit, he or she will first meet with you in an opening conference to briefly review the consultant's role.  The on-site consultants role will be to recognize unseen hazards in your workplace in regard to employee wellness, suggest approaches and options for improving employee wellness.  Identify kinds of help we can offer and the programs we recommend for your specific needs and provide you a written report summarizing findings.

Walk Through

Together with you the consultant will examine conditions in your workplace. We strongly encourage maximum employee participation in the walk-through. Better informed and more alert employees can more easily work with you to identify and correct potential injury and illness hazards in your workplace. Talking with employees during the walk-through helps the consultant identify and judge the nature and extent of specific needs.  The consultant will study your entire workplace or the specific operations you designate.  Consultants will note safety or health risks specific to the physical work practices of your employees

Closing Conference

The consultant will then review detailed findings with you in a closing conference. You will learn not only what you need to improve, but also what you are doing right. We will discuss with you any and all recommendations to improve the health, safety and wellness of your employees, providing you specific solutions tailored to meet your company and employee needs.

Follow Through

Following the closing conference, the consultant will send you a detailed written report explaining the findings. The consultant will send you a specific plan in writing detailing the recommended solutions that we can provide your company including what the costs are, and what the benefits and potential savings will be.  Showing you what we believe in at Protection Injury Prevention holds true that Healthy Employees = Healthy Business.

THE ATHLETIC TRAINER

we treat your employees like athletes

An athletic trainer is a certified health care professional who practices in the field of sports medicine. Athletic training has been recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) as an allied health care profession since 1990.

As defined by the Strategic Implementation Team of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) in August 2007:

"Athletic training is practiced by athletic trainers, health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis and intervention of emergency, acute and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations and disabilities."

Areas of expertise of accredited athletic trainers include Risk Management and Injury Prevention, Pathology of Injuries and Illnesses, Orthopedic Clinical Examination and Assessment, Medical Conditions and Disabilities, Acute Care of Injuries and Illnesses, Therapeutic Modalities, Conditioning and Rehabilitative Exercises, Pharmacology and Psychosocial Intervention and Referral, Nutritional Aspects of Injuries and Illnesses, Healthcare Administration and "Professional Development and Responsibility.”

Services rendered by the athletic trainer take place in a wide variety of settings and venues, including actual athletic training facilities, primary schools, universities, inpatient and outpatient physical rehabilitation clinics, hospitals, physician offices, community centers, workplaces, and even the military as well as Law enforcement and fire service.

INJURY PREVENTION

we prevent costly injuries before they happen

Industrial Athletic Trainers Prevent Injuries
At Protection Injury Prevention, our Industrial Athletic Trainers will be on-site daily in order to prevent workplace injuries.  An Athletic Trainer is an expert in orthopedics and soft tissue injury prevention. Our IAT's will implement the "FLEX" program designed for your employees specific job tasks.
Our "FLEX" program consists of dynamic warm up and static stretching for FLEXibility, as well as a calisthenics or resistance routine for FLEXing your muscles with a "pre-habilitation" philosophy.  Our IAT's are trained in bio-mechanics and ergonomics in order to correct and pre-hab postures that can cause overuse injuries. As well as reduce the overall wear and tear on a body that labors over the course of a career.

WORK-RELATED INJURY TREATMENT

we reduce lost time

Injury prevention, assessment, management, treatment and rehabilitation are the five main areas in which Industrial Athletic Trainers are uniquely trained. Risk Management and Injury Prevention training allows IATs to develop and implement comprehensive emergency action plans. They also identify unsafe site or environmental conditions and monitor and provide the proper intervention for heat-related illnesses.  When an injury does occur, IATs are there to provide on-site immediate assessments.  Based on the information gained they can then provide the best and most efficient injury management protocol.  These professionals then work with the employee on a daily basis to help maximize the healing potential.  Many work related injuries require more aggressive and advanced rehabilitation.  IATs are prepared to design and implement comprehensive rehabilitation programs that are job specific and age appropriate.  They are trained in the bio-mechanics of sport and design rehabilitation programs that include the functional activities needed to return to work.  They have to take into consideration not only the physical, but also the mental and emotional preparation of the injured worker.  A complete, safe and permanent return to work after an injury has resolved, requires specialized physical reconditioning that can take place during the rehabilitation process.  Sports medicine clinics, corporate wellness and industrial fitness facilities are employing IATs because of their expertise in biomechanics, injury prevention and rehabilitation.   They work with their patients and employees to help get them back to work and play quickly and safely.

CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER

Dr Matthew Rutman

Dr Rutman is the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Protection Injury Prevention.  His main role within the organization is to oversee the practice of our Industrial Athletic Trainers.  An athletic trainer, according to their national certification as well as most state practice acts, work under the guidance of a physician.  To ensure the highest level of care possible, the CMO is responsible for the standing orders given to IAT’s.  He approves the training curriculum for new employees and is also an invaluable resource as our medical professionals treat patients onsite with client employees

THE BOTTOM LINE....

we save you time & money

The true cost to the nation, employers, and individuals of work-related deaths and injuries is much greater than the cost of workers’ compensation insurance alone. The figures above show National Safety Council estimates of the total economic costs of work-related deaths and injuries.
We have data that shows that one IAT can prevent up to 30 medically consulted claims per year with a potential savings of up to 1.2 million dollars per IAT per year.  Again proving Healthy Employees + Healthy Business

THE BOTTOM LINE

we reduce costs

the National Athletic Trainers’ Association sheds new light on the occupational health environment and the financial benefits to employers who have athletic training programs on-site.
With the ever increasing demand on output and return on investment in today’s workplace, employees in the occupational setting remain at risk of acute and overuse, on-the-job injuries. Their work requires special skills often including heavy lifting, carrying, repetitive movement and physical stress. Lost days from work can have a significant impact on a company’s bottom line and on the individual’s own productivity.

“Athletic trainers’ expertise in musculoskeletal health makes them a vital part of an occupational health care team whether working as independent contractors or employed through a company, clinic, hospital or other facility,”

says NATA President Jim Thornton, MA, ATC, CES.
